The short version: we don’t run analytics, don’t set cookies, and don’t load trackers. The only personal information we ever hold is the email address of readers who choose to subscribe to our newsletter, and that is handled by a GDPR-compliant newsletter provider with double opt-in.
What we collect
Nothing on this site asks you for personal information except the newsletter signup form on the updates page. You can read every other page without telling us anything about yourself.
Newsletter signups
If you submit your email address through the newsletter form, that address is sent to beehiiv, our newsletter provider. beehiiv is the data processor; we (WOCxO, LLC) are the data controller.
What happens step by step:
- Double opt-in. beehiiv sends you a confirmation email. Your address is not added to the active list, and we cannot send you anything, until you click the confirmation link.
- What we store. Your email address, the date you subscribed, and an indicator of which page you subscribed from. That’s all. We do not store your name, IP, location, or demographic data.
- What we send. Short, plain-English notes when something meaningful changes with the AI tools covered in the book. Cadence is event-driven, not scheduled, some weeks nothing goes out at all.
- Unsubscribe. Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link. It takes effect immediately. You can also email support@wocxo.com and we’ll remove you by hand.
- Retention. If you unsubscribe, your address is deleted from the active list and kept only in a suppression record long enough to prevent accidental re-subscription (typically a few months), then purged.
beehiiv’s own privacy practices are documented at beehiiv.com/privacy. beehiiv is a U.S.-based processor; if you subscribe from the EU/UK, your email address will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
We do not share the subscriber list with anyone. We do not use it for advertising or enrichment. We do not run A/B tests on humans without consent. If any of that ever changes, this policy will be updated and you will be notified in a newsletter before the change takes effect.
Server logs
This site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare’s edge servers automatically record routine technical information, including IP addresses, request paths, response codes, and user-agent strings, for security, abuse prevention, and content delivery. We don’t access these logs for analytics or profiling. Cloudflare’s own privacy practices are documented at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Cookies and tracking
We don’t set cookies. We don’t use Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, PostHog, Meta Pixel, or anything similar. We don’t load tracking pixels. We don’t fingerprint your browser. If you open the browser developer tools on any page of this site, you’ll see no third-party requests to tracking or analytics domains.
Fonts, scripts, images
Every font, script, image, and logo on this site is served from our own domain (practicalaibook.ai). We don’t hotlink Google Fonts, we don’t load third-party CDNs at runtime, and we don’t embed external content that would leak your IP address to another service without your explicit action.
External links
Pages on this site link out to other services, the AI tools the book discusses (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and others), related tools, news sources, and our reader community on Discourse. When you click one of those links, you are taken to a third-party site with its own privacy practices and its own cookies. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for what they do with your information. Check each service’s own privacy policy before you sign in or share anything.
Affiliate links
The Amazon links on our buy page are affiliate links. WOCxO, LLC participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate-advertising program that lets us earn a small commission when you click through and make a purchase on Amazon. It costs you nothing extra; Amazon pays the commission out of their margin. As required by the FTC: as an Amazon Associate, WOCxO, LLC earns from qualifying purchases.
We may add similar affiliate relationships with other book retailers (such as Bookshop.org) over time. When we do, the buy page will continue to disclose them, and this section will be updated. We will never add affiliate relationships that compromise the editorial honesty of the book’s content or this companion site, if a tool isn’t worth recommending on its own merits, we don’t recommend it just because there’s a kickback.
Your rights under GDPR (EU, UK, and EEA visitors)
The only personal data we hold is the email address of confirmed newsletter subscribers (see the Newsletter signups section above). To exercise any of the following rights, email support@wocxo.com, we respond within 30 days as required by GDPR:
- Right of access, a copy of the email address and subscription metadata we hold
- Right to rectification, correcting inaccurate data
- Right to erasure, the “right to be forgotten” (you can also use the unsubscribe link in any email, which has the same effect)
- Right to restrict or object to processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to withdraw consent at any time (the unsubscribe link does this)
- Right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority
Your rights under CCPA / CPRA (California residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:
- Right to know what personal information we collect, for the site itself, nothing beyond Cloudflare server logs; for newsletter subscribers, only the email address you submitted plus the signup date and source page
- Right to delete personal information we hold, email us, or use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing of personal information
- Right to limit use and disclosure of sensitive personal information
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of the above rights
We do not sell or share personal information
We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with any third party for any commercial, advertising, or cross-context behavioral advertising purpose, as those terms are defined under California law. This has been true since the site launched and will continue to be true. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated and a prominent “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link will appear on every page.
Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. The book itself is written for adults learning about AI.
International transfers
This site is operated from the United States. If you access it from the EU, UK, or elsewhere, any information generated by your visit (server log IPs via Cloudflare, and any email address you submit via the newsletter form, which is sent to beehiiv) may be processed on servers in the United States. We rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything meaningful, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and post a short note on the updates page. Material changes will be flagged prominently.
