OpenAI added a $500/month Pro 500 tier with the highest usage allowance and exclusive access to Astra Ultrafast. Pro 200 has reopened to new sign-ups, but starting October 30 its compute drops from 20x to 10x Plus usage (weekly GPT-6 Pro chats fall from 200 to 100; one-time credit issued to existing subscribers). ChatGPT Business dropped from $30 to $25/user/month ($20 annually).

Anthropic releases Opus 5.5 (API price cut) and Sonnet 5.5 (same price, 30% faster)
Claude Opus 5.5 (September 22) cuts the API price from $5/$25 to $4/$20 per million tokens, roughly 40% cheaper per typical workload. Claude Sonnet 5.5 (September 28) keeps Sonnet 5's $2/$10 API price but runs more than 30% faster. Both are available in the Claude app on paid plans. Subscription prices unchanged.

Microsoft Copilot Business $18 promo has ended; December billing restructure coming
The $18/user/month introductory rate for M365 Copilot Business expired September 30; direct and retail customers now pay $21 at next renewal. Partner-channel customers keep the promo through December 31. Starting December 1, new CSP licenses default to usage-based billing (flat fee plus Copilot Credits for Cowork and Code features). The free standalone Copilot Chat is unaffected.

Meta Connect confirms Muse AI Agent tiers ($20 and $100) and a full hardware lineup
Meta Connect confirmed structured Muse AI Agent plans: Free (100M tokens/week), Power ($20/month, 500M tokens/week), Maximum ($100/month, 3B tokens/week). Hardware announced: Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 from $449, Ray-Ban Meta Audio $349, Meta Adventurer $249, Meta VR Glasses $1,299 (spring 2027). The core free Meta AI experience in Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook is unchanged.

Copilot Tasks moves behind Microsoft 365 Premium; Claude folds Cowork into chat and adds Docs and Slides; ChatGPT lands in Word for free
Microsoft is moving the consumer Copilot Tasks feature into Copilot Cowork, which needs a Microsoft 365 Premium plan, so Personal and Family subscribers can read old tasks but cannot run new ones without upgrading (scheduled tasks arrive switched off; check yours). Anthropic merged Cowork into the regular Claude app on September 16 and launched Claude Docs and Claude Slides in beta on paid plans, plus 27 new small-business connections including QuickBooks, Shopify, and Square. OpenAI added ChatGPT to Microsoft Word on every plan, including Free.

OpenAI releases GPT-6 Sol and Luna: half as many mistakes, and API prices cut more than 50%
GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna replace the GPT-5.6 models across all ChatGPT plans starting September 22. Sol makes roughly half as many mistakes as its predecessor; on the API it is $2/$10 per million tokens. Luna handles fast high-volume work at just $0.10/$0.50 per million tokens. Subscription prices (Free, Go, Plus, Pro, Business) are unchanged. GPT-6 Astra continues its staged rollout to Plus and above.
